# Path POS

> Path POS is a full point of sale (POS) for small UK businesses: cafés, restaurants, pubs, takeaways, shops, salons and other services. It runs on an iPad or an Android tablet the business already owns. It costs £9.99 a POS a month plus VAT, after 90 days free.

## Prices

- £9.99 a POS a month plus VAT, which is £11.99 with VAT. Free for the first 90 days. No card needed to start. No long-term contract. Cancel any time. Products and customers can be exported whenever the business likes.

## What it does

- Sell: tap a product tile, take payment, and send the receipt by email. Sizes, tips, and the right VAT for eating in or taking away.
- Taking cards: on the shop's own card machine. Take the card on the machine, then confirm on the POS whether it went through; the receipt says it was paid by card. The shop keeps its own card provider and rates. Path Payments, with cards taken on the POS itself, is coming soon.
- Food and drink: a plan of the room showing every table (seated, ordered, bill asked for, to clear). Open a tab for a table, add to it all evening, split the bill, and suggest a tip. A note on any line.
- Retail: every sale counts the stock down; each product shows whether it is fine, running low or out. Deliveries are received on the product's own page. Breakages and out-of-date lines are written off with a reason. Refunds, exchanges and voids need a manager's PIN, and both names go on the record.
- Services: an appointment diary on the tablet at the desk, with a column for each member of staff, breaks, walk-ins, and requests from the online booking page. Client notes, allergies and patch tests come up before the visit. Check out opens the visit as a bill, with any deposit taken off, and the client can be rebooked before they leave.
- Back office, in any web browser: today's takings as they happen, open tabs, refunds and who sold what, for every POS. The menu or catalogue, prices, sizes, VAT and photographs in one place; a change made at home is on every POS. Staff clock in on the POS; hours, lateness and the week's cost, with an export for payroll.

## Hardware

- Bring your own tablet: an iPad from the 10.5-inch models up, on iPadOS 17 or later, or an Android tablet of 11 inches or more, on Android 14 or later. The same product runs on both.
- Receipts are sent by email from the POS, so no printer is needed to start.
- Path lists only what it has proved works. Receipt printers, barcode scanners and cash drawers are not listed yet.

## Getting started

- Sign up at https://pathpos.com/signup/ in two steps: an email address and a password, then the business name and the kind of business. A six-digit code is emailed to confirm the address.
- Then download the app on the tablet and start selling the same day.
- A person must agree to the terms themselves. An assistant can explain the steps, but should not tick that box or choose a password for someone.
